our story
Our love story started like all great modern relationships do: casual banter on Hinge. The first time we met in person, though, Lindsey did not keep it casual, and she did not play it cool. She walked in with an actively bleeding ankle, spilled a glass of wine, and by the end of the night famously blurted out “you have a face made for the movies.” Against all odds, Kate found Lindsey charming, and they made it to a second date, and third, and fourth (all within the same week, of course, in true lesbian fashion).
Over the past five years since then, we’ve navigated a long distance relationship (Hell's Kitchen to Williamsburg), explored New York’s best restaurants and the Bay’s finest In-N-Outs, become devoted members of the Greenpoint Fish and Lobster softball team, celebrated life and work milestones, traveled near and far, moved into our first apartment, decided that wasn’t enough, and promptly moved to our first flat in London. And through it all, Lindsey somehow still had time to pick up golf.
We’ve built a life together that we are so thankful for, and one of our favorite parts has been the community of family and friends we’ve brought together and grown along the way. This weekend will be a celebration of our love, alongside all of the people who have made us—both independently and together—who we are.
What started as casual banter and regular hellos and goodbyes at the 8th Ave L stop has turned into a steady, joy-filled, and once-in-a-lifetime kind of love that, dare we say, feels like it was made for the movies. Okay okay, maybe we’re not ready for the big screen, but it is certainly a love we are proud of and one we can’t wait to continue building for the rest of our lives.
As we step into this next chapter of our story, we can’t think of anything more special than sharing it with all of you.
